Veronica Elizabeth “Verna G.” Vessels, 90, of Rhodelia, KY, passed away Monday, October 31, 2011, at
her residence.
She and her husband Harold owned and operated Vessels General Store for many years and she assisted
in the operation of the Rhodelia Post Office for many years. She was a mailbox member of the Meade
County Homemakers and a member of St. Theresa Church in Rhodelia where she served as an
Eucharistic Minister and former member of the Church Council. Mrs. Vessels also worked at Gladson’
Clothing Store in Brandenburg for several years.
Mrs. Vessels was born August 16, 1921, in Andyville, KY, the daughter of the late William Lee and Agnes
Elizabeth Norris Greenwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Vessels; her son, Stephen Wayne Vessels; 4 Sisters:
Emma B. Hardesty, Alverda Brown, Naomi Pike and Rena Norris Mills; 3 Brothers: Linoel, Earl and
Bernard Lee Greenwell.
She is survived by 5 Children: Elizabeth Susan (Joseph) Jarboe of Brandenburg, Edward Harold (Mary
Rita) Vessels of Glasgow, KY, John Lee (Sandi) Vessels of Rhodelia, Sharon (Sherry) Marie (Gary) Hicks
of Harned, KY, and Timothy Louis (Diana) Vessels of Brandenburg. 18 Grandchildren and 36 Great-
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. E.D.T Thursday, November 3, 2011 from St. Theresa Church in
Rhodelia, KY, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. E.D.T. Wednesday, November 2, 2011 and after 8 A.M. Thursday at the
Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home.
The Prayer service will be at 7 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hosparus of Central Kentucky or the
Building Fund of St. Theresa Church.
