Donald K. Thompson, 82, of Battletown, KY passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Nazareth
Home in Louisville, KY.
He was born February 5, 1928 in Battletown, KY to the late Russell B. and Bettie Bennett Thompson.
Donald had retired from Olin Chemical‘s Doe Run Plant where he worked in the power plant as the number
one fireman, he was a veteran of WW II, a 60 year member of Cold Spring Baptist Church, a member of the
Harrison Masonic Lodge # 122 F&AM and a life long Democrat and member of the Meade County
Democrat Party.
His brothers Willis Thompson and Maurice (Thumb) Greer preceded him in death.
He is survived by: Wife, Marjorie C. Thompson, Daughters, Deborah (Jeff) Costantine of Franklin, TN and
Joan (Bill) Metzmeier of Louisville, KY, Son, Mike (Pamela) Thompson of Battletown, KY, Grandchildren,
John (Karen) Costantine of Ooltewah, TN, Alison (Todd) Petty of Cookeville, TN, Kari (Todd) Wagner of
Dallas, TX, Nicole (Kevin) Whelan of Vine Grove, KY, Lora Beth (Craig) Mattingly of Payneville, KY, Lea
(John) Stammerman of Louisville, KY, Lisa (Derrick) Reed of Ft. Knox, KY and Jess (Sarah) Metzmeier of
Louisville, KY, Great Grandchildren, Grace and Callie Costantine, Elijah Petty, Charissa and Bryce
Wagner, Hallie, Cina Claire and Charleigh Cole Whelan, Lily and Sam Mattingly, Andrew and Izac
Stammerman and Samantha, Nick and Tony Reed.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 14, 2010 at 2 P.M. EST from Cold Spring Baptist Church in
Battletown, KY. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 13 from 2-8 P.M. EST and after 9 A.M. Sunday
from the Chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cold Spring Baptist Church.
