Hobart Leroy Coomes, age 97, of Brandenburg, Passed away, Saturday, August 25, 2007, at Hardin
Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was born on January 23, 1910 in Breckinridge county as the son of the late Oral and Effie (Norton)
Coomes.
He was also preceded in death by: his loving wife, Alberta (Smith) Coomes; 3 Grandsons; and 1
Great-Grandson A member of the Payneville Baptist Church and Retired from Smith Auto Supply
He is survived by: Two Daughters, Edna (Jimmy) Brown of Webster, and Bonnie Dodson of Elizabethtown;
Two Sons, Leroy (Virginia) Coomes of Brandenburg, and Lamar Coomes of Payneville; One Brother,
Omer Coomes of Bloomington, IL;
6 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren; and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
The family is being served by Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home, Brandenburg, Ky. where the
family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM Sunday, and after 9:00 AM Monday, Funeral service
will be held at Payneville Baptist Church at 2:00 PM Monday, with Rev. Chris Wilson officiating. Interment
will be at New Highland Cemetery in Brandenburg, Ky.
