Rebecca Ann Gerkins, age 45, of Ekron passed away, Thursday, January 12, 2012 at home surrounded by
her family.
Born in Elizabethtown, KY to the late James H. Hazle. Rebecca was a graduate of Elizabethtown High
School. She also received a Masters in Special Education from Campbellsville University. She was a
Teacher at the Meade County High School, and touched many lives.
She is survived by her: Husband, Doug Gerkins; Children Jenny, Grace, and Haley Gerkins; Mother, Mary
Woodring Hazle of Elizabethtown; Brothers & Sister, Steve (Kathy) Hazle of Cox’s Creek, KY, Mark
(Rhonda) Hazle of Gaffney, SC, Martha (Bert) Fersner of Summerville, SC; Mother & Father-in-Law, Bill &
Patsy Gerkins of Garrett, KY, Brothers-in-Law, Jeff (Trish) Gerkins of Knoxville, TN, Kyle (Sheila) Gerkins of
Bowling Green, KY; 14 Nieces and Nephews; A number of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
Services will be held from Buck Grove Baptist Church, Ekron, KY, Monday, January 16, 2012 at 11:00AM
with Burial to follow in Buck Grove Cemetery Rev. David Campbell Presiding.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 15, 2012 from 3-8:00 PM from the Chapel of the Bruington-Jenkins-
Sturgeon Funeral Home and Monday from 9-11:00AM from the Buck Grove Baptist Church in Ekron, KY
